Artspace on the Prom

Residents and visitors alike have expressed their delight at the development of this old art deco building, unloved for many years, into an exciting new space for the arts in Cromer. A space for people to see and exhibit art, participate in creative activities and attend community events. Artists have been keen to exhibit in the new space because of the fantastic light, the sound of the sea and the iconic building with its inspiring sea views.
Cromer Artspace undertook a community survey in 2021, which showed the demand for a permanent space for the arts in Cromer. With the support of NNDC we were able to open Artspace on the Prom in 2022.
We have been very fortunate in the support we have received so far from artists, from a team of volunteers and from local councils. This has enabled us to decorate, install a accessible toilet, open the shutters and put up display boards. Handrails will go up shortly. We have been able to open and have begun to fulfil our aims to help the arts in Cromer and the surrounding area to grow and develop and to involve more people in the arts.
However, there is much work still to do to make the building more usable and more accessible. We are looking for support towards further improvements: electrics, plumbing, lighting, flooring and longer-term projects such as an access ramp and sustainable heating.
